OPRA youth rowers were at the American Lake Fall Classic Regatta on October 14th where they enjoyed beautiful racing conditions and strong competition. OPRA came away with medals in 6 of their 10 5k race events. Nathan Mishler flew past rival boats to take 1st place in the Men’s Jr. single race. The Women’s Jr. Varsity quad had a strong finish in 2nd place. Our men’s Jr Novice 4+ and the Men’s Jr JV 4x both took 3rd place in their races as did the Women’s JR JV 2x. Assistant Coach Callum Swinford won 2nd place in the Men’s open single. Overall our novice, junior varsity and varsity rowers went all out to show that the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association is a force to be reckoned with in Northwest youth rowing. Senior Nathan Mishler attracted the notice of a University of Washington rowing coach due to his performance at this regatta. Most OPRA seniors plan to row in college next year and they enjoy our team’s growing reputation at these events. by Stacey Mishler
